   History of London, ON

On January 1, 1855, London was declared a city (ten thousand or more). In the 1860's, a bronze spring was discovered in the forks of the Thames River as businessmen dug into the oil industry. Sources became a popular destination for wealthy Ontarians, until the 20th century when a textile factory was built in the area, replacing the spa.

Records from 1869 show an estimated 18,000 people working for three newspapers, churches for all major denominations and offices for all major banks. The industry included a number of tanneries, oil refineries and refineries, four flour mills, a Labatt Brewing Company and a Carling brewery in addition to other production. Both the Great Western and Grand Trunk trains were parked here. Many insurance companies also had offices in the city.

East London, east of London, was (and still is) an industrial center, also annexed in 1874. Acquiring city status in 1881, continued as a separate municipality until concerns about expensive water services and other financial problems led to a merger in 1885. The southern region of London, including Wortley Village, is still collectively known as the "London South". Never included, the South was merged with the city in 1890, although Wortley Village still has a different sense of place. In contrast, the residence in Broughdale north of the city was clearly owned, merged with the university, and was not connected until 1961.

Ivor F. Goodson and Ian R. Dowbiggin examined the war on handicraft training in London, Ontario, during the period 1900-1930. London Technical and Commercial High School has been hit hard by public and business sectors, who have seen the school as a threat to the only high school budget, the London Collegiate Institute.

Transportation and Logistics Market in London, ON

London's role as a military center continued into the 20th century during the two world wars, serving as the administrative center of the Western Ontario region. In 1905, the London Armory was built and maintained by the First Hussars until 1975. A private investor bought a historic site and built a new hotel (Delta London Armories, 1996) in its place, preserving the shell of this historic building. In the 1950's, two parks were merged into the London and Oxford Rifles (Third Army), the Royal Canadian Regiment. This unit continues to function today as the 4th Battalion, the Royal Canadian Regiment. The Regimental Headquarters of the Royal Canadian Regiment resides in London at Wolseley Barracks on Oxford Street. The barracks are home to First Hussars.

Due to London’s highly educated population due to its university and academic roots and proximity to the Canada-USA border, London Ontario is one of Canadas Bustling and high traffic transportation and logistics business areas. Trust Dynafix when you are in London to get you moving once again to make sure this city keep growing and prospering!
